SOLA Academy Uniform

UNIFORM POLICY:
All students are required to wear a SOLA t-shirt for Thursday classes.

WHY UNIFORMS?: Our simple uniforms are beneficial because they... PROMOTE COHESIVENESS IN THE STUDENT BODY. Schools nationwide are welcoming diversity in their student body, with a wide range of backgrounds and different economic statuses. At HIHCM, we strive to create an environment where all children feel welcome and safe. PROVIDE AN APPROPRIATE STANDARD OF DRESS. Uniforms provide an added layer of protection for children and staff by ensuring all clothing is suitable for school. REDUCE THE COST OF "SCHOOL CLOTHES." Families may purchase uniforms from the store of their choosing. Affordable options include School uniform sales, Target, Old Navy, used clothing stores, and many other retailers. HELP ELIMINATE DISTRACTIONS. Wearing a uniform helps to eliminate distractions that could be caused by current fashion trends.

David Bolt

David earned his B.A. in Intercultural Ministry Studies from Bethany Global University. He is currently working toward earning his TEFL certification. He lived for a year as a Missionary in Kenya, where he gained extensive informal teaching experience working with local village schools in various capacities. David began working at HIH in the fall of 2022 and has primarily taught Jr.H. Humanities like Language Arts, U.S./World History, Apologetics, Philosophy, and Occupations. He also taught Elementary History at HIH for two years. In addition to working with HIH, he teaches the Godly Play Sunday School curriculum at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in St. Paul and is being trained as a Theological Adult Educator (lay Catechist) through St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary.

Mike Coyle

Mike attended the College of Art and Design, then the University of Minnesota. He then studied with Richard Lack at Atelier Lack, a school of classical and impressionist painting. He co-authored the book Don Koestner: American Impressionist, and his art is featured in Richard F. Lack: A Catalog Raisonné. Michael’s paintings are in numerous private collections, and he has participated in many exhibits. He has been teaching art for 30 years at his private art school called the Coyle Studio of Fine Art.

Katie Fischer

Katie earned her BA in Theatre/Dance from Luther College in 2001. She then went on to become a Certified Somatic Movement Therapist and Educator through Moving On Center School for Participatory Arts and Research and Martha Eddy's Dynamic Embodiment Somatic Movement Therapy Training and completed her Master of Arts in Ministry Leadership with a focus in Theological Studies at the University of Northwestern. She was the Director of Children’s and Family Ministry at Vision of Glory Lutheran Church for 12 years, where she fell in love with Montessori education through training in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. She has worked as a choreographer and director in the Twin Cities for over 20 years, is the Executive and Artistic Director of The Art of Reconciliation Performing Arts Company and Art of the Body Movement Studio, and spends most of her free time with her husband, their 4 daughters, and energetic pup. Soli Deo gloria!

Ashley Goodmundson

Ashley earned her B.A. in Studio Art and Religion from St. Olaf College, a MACTE Certification in Montessori Education from Bethany Global University, and has a Musikgarten Certification. She has 9 years of experience teaching classroom music and private piano lessons, and 4 years of experience teaching Montessori elementary general education.

Stella Johnson

Stella has a BS in Kinesiology from the University of Northwestern, St. Paul. She is passionate about health, fitness, and helping students learn to honor God by caring for the bodies they have been given. She has experience leading one- to two-week student trips in the Boundary Waters, where she facilitates team-building and encourages healthy group dynamics in diverse, challenging wilderness settings. Teaching Physical Education to elementary and middle school children at Hand in Hand, as well as working in Handle with Care, is a joy and a great deal of fun.

Dave Larson

Dave started driving a school bus way back in the year 2000 while majoring in Communications (PR), History, and Bible at Northwestern College, where he received his B.A. in 2005. He served 8 years in the US Army as an intelligence analyst and Arabic linguist, earning an A.A. in Arabic from the Defense Language Institute in 2009 along the way. After returning to MN from active duty and some contract work in Afghanistan, Dave continued to split his time between bus driving and education, working as a school bus trainer in the Twin Cities, a high school English and History teacher in East Grand Forks, and a long-haul overnight intercity bus driver for Jefferson Lines. (He also got a flight instructor certification in there, but hasn't taken on any students yet...) Dave answered a last-minute transportation need for a driver for Hand in Hand's Wayzata campus at the start of the 25-26 school year and has enjoyed stepping into a substitute teaching role when he's not on the road with students.
